Do I Need to Enroll or Register?
Enrollment is the process of getting a student signed up to enter the school district for the first time or after a departure from the district. Families who have never had a student at Mounds Public Schools would need to complete the enrollment process. Families who have left Mounds Public Schools, enrolled at a different school district, and are returning would need to complete the enrollment process.
Example: I live in Mounds Public Schools District, own or rent property in the Mounds Public School District, and my student has never attended a Mounds Public School.
Registration is the annual process of updating and signing all the forms for next year. If a student has previously attended any school at Mounds Public School during the 2024-2025 school year, they must complete the registration process. The online registration update happens through the Parent Portal. For more information about how to complete the online registration update, please visit our Annual Update page.
Example: I live in Mounds Public Schools District, own or rent property in the Mounds Public School District, and my student attended a Mounds Public School during the current school year.

With the enactment of Senate Bill 783 (2021), the Legislature made comprehensive reforms to Oklahoma’s school transfer laws, namely revising the requirements for accepting and denying student transfers and requiring school districts to set and list enrollment capacities on their websites. Visit the links below for more information, including current capacity numbers. Students can request a transfer to any district in the state, regardless of where they live.
Families can request an open transfer for the current school year at any time during the year. Families who wish to transfer schools for the next school year may do so online on June 1. For additional information about Open Transfers, visit the Student Transfers page on the Oklahoma Department of Education’s website.
There are two classifications of open transfers: inter-district transfers and intra-district transfers. MPS only has inter-district transfers.
Transfers Between School Districts
This transfer type is for students who are outside the Mounds Public School District and would like to attend Mounds Public Schools.
Example: I live in Kiefer, Oklahoma. I own or rent property in the Kiefer Public School District, but my students want to attend Mounds Public Schools.
Decisions about student transfers are made following district policy and state law.
